Haberpakka Unit

Created in 2003 shortly after Young Leaders were introduced into Scouting, the Haberpakka ESU has supported 14-18 year old YLs ever since. The Unit meets on the first Tuesday of the month at Gotherington Village Hall, situated right in the middle of the District. As well as accepting Young Leaders from Tewkesbury District, the Haberpakka ESU also welcomes Explorers from outside the District, as well as young people from outside Scouting doing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. We only meet once a month as everyone’s usually out being YLs most of the time!

There are a number of Young Leader modules defined by The Scout Organisation (see here), but the Unit has a strict policy of never delivering the same module twice in the same style. This keeps the modules fresh, and the leaders guessing! Guest speakers are very popular with the Unit, and recently we have had visits from Shelterbox and Cheltenham Racecourse.

The Unit likes to get out and about, with events like the National Scout Shooting Championships and Gilwell24 firm favourites. We’re off on a trip to Wales in April for a chillout camp, and we’re hoping to be off on a narrowboat before long.

The Haberpakka ESU currently holds the County Shooting Trophy.

Meeting Time

The Haberpakka ESU meets at Gotherington Village Hall on the first Tuesday of the month. We meet from 7.15-9.00 pm.
